Yesterday started off crummy - up at 7:30 so I could get the office by 8, so I could dismantle seven desks, cart them downstairs to our NEW office space, and, uh, remantle them there. I was supposed to be home by 12 or earlier, but Boss Lady, who knew this, asked me if I wouldn't mind hooking up all of the computers (which had also been hauled downstairs) because the telecom guy was going to be showing up at 8am to connect them to the network. It's a good thing she had worked me so hard for the past 3.5 hours because I just didn't have the energy to laugh in her face. When was the last time ANY tech guy showed up on time, let alone tht early in the morning?
It got better once I left, as when I arrived home, my friend Chris was already there (my reason for needing to leave by noon). We hung out for a few hours and watched the Sox game (which, unfortunately, was not in HD nor in widescreen...damn you Canuckleheaded teams north of the border and your backwards grasp of technology!) which was fair to middling. Exciting for maybe five minutes in the ninth inning but ultimately disappointing. We did get a great deal of amusement from the pair of Mickey Mouse gloves I got for him down in Disney last month - he'll be greeting A-Rod with them at today's home opener (in case you missed the joke, here it is).
But the coup de grĂ¢ce was yesterday evening, when I sat down to do our taxes (just cutting it a little close). Nothing like finding out you're getting a big, fat refund back. Well, it's not four digits or anything, but a good chunk of change for the ol' savings account. Mmm, play money...
